ROCHESTER OPEN WATER CHALLENGE JUNE 28, 2008

Dear Racers,
Thank you for making the 2008 Rochester Open Water Challenge a wonderful event.  We had great paddlers, great venue and glassy flat water (oops).  Too bad the wind didn't cooperate, but the racing was spectacular none the less. 

Thanks to Ed Joy Painting for creating the 1000 meter hot spot.  The course lay out gave the specators a great thrill, as the racers came back through the starting gates before continuing on the 10 mile course.  $100 Hot Spot winners were Greg Barton (male) and Nicole Mallory (female). 

Prize winners in 10 mile race:
Greg Barton - 1st place - $500
Joe Glickman - 2nd place - $200
Jason Quadliatta - 3rd place - $50

News:
6/19/08 - Deadline for RENTAL EPIC BOATS is now Saturday, 6/21.  Limited space is available. BayCreek may have rental racing kayaks available, eg Rapier 18, Rapier 20.  Call BayCreek for info.
6/19/08 Registration now open day of race from 8:30am - 10:00am.  But, late registrations may not get race shirt if supplies run out.  So.  Send it in now. 
6/9/08   EPIC SURF SKI'S available for rental.  $75 for Value layup, $100 for Performance layup.  Contact BayCreek to reserve a ski.
6/1/08  Dundee Ales and Lager signs on as premier sponsor of the race. 
5/30/08  REGISTRATION forms finally available. See Registration page. 
RENTAL BOAT availability to be posted soon.  At least 10 Epic Ski's plus assorted kayaks.  SCHEDULE of events changed.  See Race Details page.
CLASSES redefined and more age groups added.  See Racedetails page.
5/23/08  HOT SPOT PRIZE CREATED.  Ed Joy Painting (Gainsville FL) has contributed a 1000 meter Hot Spot award of $100 for both the first male and first female to reach the spot.  Thanks Ed!
3/16/08  NEED A BOAT?  We may be able to arrange rental of a kayak or surfski.  Please send an inquire to challenge@baycreek.com.
